John
Galt gets didactic (teacherly),
I am the man whose existence your blank-outs were intended to permit you to ignore. I am the man whom you did not want either to live or to die. You did not want me to live, because you were afraid of knowing that I carried the responsibility you dropped and that your lives depended upon me; you did not want me to die, because you knew it.
This time, put yourself in Galt's shoes. He's the talented one, the one the system tried to turn into just another disposable cog in their machinery. Then, the very end of this paragraph, you [the elitists] did not want me to die, because you knew it. Or because your lives depended upon me and you knew it. Let that point sink in really deep too. What would happen if by the tens of thousands, by the millions, people who worked the vast hateful and hated bureaucracies, in government and corporations just decided to get up, walk out and never return? What if the members of their armed forces and police all just did the same? What would they do? The jig would be up. Think it couldn't happen? How much has happened in your life already you thought could not happen, particularly if you happened to live in one of those areas where they planned a war? They're planning new wars in the developed world if they do not get their way. Why wouldn't they? The people's in the developed world who can reason and think and do things pose the greatest threat against them. The poor have been set up in this piece as elsewhere, that you would turn your growing hatred toward convenient straw men rather than those who are truly to blame.
Twelve years ago, when I worked in your world, I was an inventor. I was one of a profession that came last in human history and will be first to vanish on the way back to the sub-human. An inventor is a man who asks ‘Why?’ of the universe and lets nothing stand between the answer and his mind.
Very well said! But the inventor is also the person uniquely fitted to become one of a profession that shall come first in the next phase of human history, the post elitist history of humanity.
Like the man who discovered the use of steam or the man who discovered the use oil, I discovered a source of energy which was available since the birth of the globe, but which men had not known how to use except as an object of worship, of terror and of legends without a thundering god. I completed the experimental model of a motor that would have made a fortune for me and for those who had hired me, a motor that would have raised the efficiency of every human installation using power and would have added the gift of higher productivity to every hour you spend at earning your living.
Then, one night at a factory meeting, I heard myself sentenced to death by reason of my achievement. I heard three parasites assert that my brain and my life were their property, that my right to exist was conditional and depended on the satisfaction of their desires. The purpose of my ability, they said, was to serve the needs of those who were less able. I had no right to live, they said, by reason of my competence for living: their right to live was unconditional, by reason of their incompetence.
Again, merely exchange the digs at the poor for exposure of the elites and you have a perfect description of modern times. The parasites are the elites asserting that Galt's brain and his life were their property, that his right to exist is conditional and depends on the satisfaction of the parasites' desires. Doesn't this sound exactly like what the government, the corporations and the banks are telling all of us right now and have been now for many years? Yes, as we have uncovered it now a few times, collectivists DO claim their right to assess people to determine who lives and who dies, because after all, there are as everyone knows just too many people. You know how long the elitists have been claiming that there are too many people? For CENTURIES! Get that through your thick heads too and stop being used and fooled by them! The elitists only concern is for themselves, they do not care AT ALL about you. George Carlin was right. But of course as Galt says wrongly of the poor but spot on of the elitists, many of them are incompetent to do any real work.
Now Galt / Rand believe they have perceived correct answers. We'll continue to observe how aptly these words fit those on top rather than those at the bottom.
Then I saw what was wrong with the world, I saw what destroyed men and nations, and where the battle for life had to be fought. I saw that the enemy was an inverted morality-and that my sanction was its only power. I saw that evil was impotent-that evil was the irrational, the blind, the anti-real-and that the only weapon of its triumph was the willingness of the good to serve it.
Who are the good to serve it? How would they know that they are the good? The first means of telling is what each and every person who lives has to do; make a personal assessment of themselves in reference to others. It happens in most cases during childhood. But eventually the good recognize each other as normal and by comparison with others up or down the social scale, they determine where they are in life. In this society, to be poor is doubly unfortunate because the system has geared us to think of poverty as evil and those who are poor are responsible for their plight. Those who have money on the other hand are accorded goodness implicitly because they have money and the more of it someone has usually the more positively they are viewed as if all they have was earned fairly and that they were entitled to their riches.
Half a dozen big names in radio and television made plenty of money by doing nothing more than moving millions of dollars worth of merchandise; if they said buy it, millions went out and bought it. But this is exactly the inverted morality Galt is talking about, not this bourgeois morality which few seriously follow anymore. People the world over now seriously believe that money is God and those with more of it are closer to godliness than those without it. We may disagree about much else, but one thing Galt and I do agree on is the impotence of the monster once people just say “no more” and refuse to work for or with the monster. Then and only then will the grip of THEIR money and THEIR system be ended and a new time begin for everyone. Again, the parasites are the elites, not the poor,
Just as the parasites around me were proclaiming their helpless dependence on my mind and were expecting me voluntarily to accept a slavery they had no power to enforce, just as they were counting on my self-immolation to provide them with the means of their plan-so throughout the world and throughout men’s history, in every version and form, from the extortions of loafing relatives to the atrocities of collective countries, it is the good, the able, the men of reason, who act as their own destroyers, who transfuse to evil the blood of their virtue and let evil transmit to them the poison of destruction, thus gaining for evil the power of survival, and for their own values-the impotence of death.
Passing along a word of advice I received from a distinguished friend and didn't fully understand at the time. He told me to beware of the rich. I want all those hard working men and women out there, farmers and small manufacturers and developers, contractors and those who have built businesses worth a few tens of millions of dollars to pay close attention. You are the good, the able, the men of reason. On the other hand, the rich I have been talking about, the parasites, the corporatists, the globalists, the elitists I am discussing are not you, though you doubtless know who they are.
I drew a profile of the type many years ago, calling them “denizens of the Barge.” In order to really be one of them, you are always a man at least 45 years old, the only exceptions might be those women who are heads of states. You must have a personal fortune in excess of $100 million and probably control at least ten times that much. You went to a well known college or university, including the technical variety in some countries, and speak several languages. You sit on the boards of directors of at least several corporations and maybe among the trustees of these prestigious colleges and universities. You and those at your level sponsor all the major foundation efforts throughout the world. You are the powers behind the scenes in everything big that's visible to the common man in the street, but nobody knows your name. You belong to many secret societies at the top but few at the bottom of these same organizations know who you are. You prefer to travel almost ceaselessly above the rest of us, choosing as your places to rest certain spots off limits to the rest of us, except as servants. This is the glittering and secretive world of the Barge. Places like Davos might come to mind, but there are dozens of other places scattered around the world where they meet and live and do their work of a sort.
If you were in any of the largely self-made categories of people with a few million that you've managed to keep from the vulture's clutches of either the Barge or their attendant governments, consider yourselves lucky. You are the real John Galts who together might crash the Barge. The poor whom Galt stigmatizes as moochers, etc. are not the real problem. Your future and your survival depend on the actions of those above your heads who certainly have more money and at this time more FORCE to compel obedience and acquiescence on your part, which is usually for you to take their payoff and sell out to them. Believe me, once you've taken the bait and many are FORCED to or be utterly destroyed, then you are no better off than the man in the street among the structurally unemployed.
I saw that there comes a point, in the defeat of any man of virtue, when his own consent is needed for evil to win-and that no manner of injury done to him by others can succeed if he chooses to withhold his consent. I saw that I could put an end to your outrages by pronouncing a single word in my mind. I pronounced it. The word was ‘No.’
This is correct, now observe how accurate this fits.
“I quit that factory. I quit your world, I made it my job to warn your victims and to give them the method and the weapon to fight you. The method was to refuse to deflect retribution. The weapon was justice.
Recall exactly what Rand means by justice: she characterizes justice as the opposite of mercy; retribution for some injury or loss caused by another, without mercy. We said that just about everyone with a solid brain knows what justice is and what it isn't. We have a pretty good idea who has done the most wrong to the most people and it hasn't been those Galt / Rand were paid to tell us. No, it was the very people who paid Rand to pen Galt's words.
If you want to know what you lost when I quit and when my strikers deserted your world-stand on an empty stretch of soil in a wilderness unexplored by men and ask yourself what manner of survival you would achieve and how long you would last if you refused to think, with no one around to teach you the motions, or, if you chose to think, how much your mind would be able to discover-ask yourself how many independent conclusions you have reached in the course of your life and how much of your time was spent on performing the actions you learned from others-ask yourself whether you would be able to discover how to till the soil and grow your food, whether you would be able to invent a wheel, a lever, an induction coil, a generator, an electronic tube-then decide whether men of ability are exploiters who live by the fruit of your labor and rob you of the wealth that you produce, and whether you dare to believe that you possess the power to enslave them.
A projection simply, because all this is irrelevant to most of the poor in this world who I assure you can and would and in some cases did (Argentina during their financial crash) tilled the soil and grew their own food, invented and made parts for deliberately broken machines so they could get their factories back up and operating after being deliberately sabotaged by their owners.
Let your women take a look at a jungle female with her shriveled face and pendulous breasts, as she sits grinding meal in a bowl, hour after hour, century by century-then let them ask themselves whether their ‘instinct of tool-making’ will provide them with their electric refrigerators, their washing machines and vacuum cleaners, and, if not, whether they care to destroy those who provided it all, but not ‘by instinct.’
This concerning the poor and backward in this world is utter and complete rubbish! It reflects a cultural bigotry that Rand's backers certainly want spread widely, so they can exploit it to their own uses. Meanwhile primitive people in most parts of the world have heard of such things and were they able to buy them with produce of their own labour they would certainly be interested in buying them. In fact the ugliest truth, and it is behind how their NGO's operate and have operated in much of the desperately poor places in the world, is that the elitists hope that these desperately poor and backwards peoples of the earth NOT rise above their culture and standard of living at all but just ... go away somewhere away from valuable mineral resources and die somewhere out of the way of the elitist's theft of what really belongs to the indigents. I have said and history quite plainly shows, how these elitists have been robbing the poor for centuries and have little regard for ceasing these practices anytime soon. What do you suppose the World Bank and IMF were for?
Take a look around you, you savages who stutter that ideas are created by men’s means of production, that a machine is not the product of human thought, but a mystical power that produces human thinking.
This covers a wide swath of those involved so heavily in the latest technical gadgetry that they see little else. But in what follows the you properly belongs to the unintended, to the elites, not the man in the street or the desperately poor.
You have never discovered the industrial age-and you cling to the morality of the barbarian eras [Middle Ages primarily] when a miserable form of human subsistence was produced by the muscular labour of slaves. Every mystic had always longed for slaves, to protect him from the material reality he dreaded.
Yes, and these “mystics” of money (masters of the universe) fit this to an uncanny degree.
But you, you grotesque little atavists, stare blindly at the skyscrapers and smokestacks around you and dream of enslaving the material providers who are scientists, inventors, industrialists.
No group could fit this but certain among the collectivists, in particular those who teach in flaky subjects invented over the past 125 years or so that have fundamentally no truths to teach but handy wedges in the dialectic culture wars being kept brewing from behind the scenes by the elites.
When you clamour for public ownership of the means of production, you are clamouring for public ownership of the mind. I have taught my strikers that the answer you deserve is only: ‘Try and get it.’
They get it, they have the means and they have FORCE. It isn't a very fair contest. The question is what have you that they want and once they get it makes you disposable? Hint; being a really bright microbiologist might shorten your life. They want your ideas, your patents. They really don't want you around, so your first resolve is NOT to allow them to have any piece of your mind, especially your inventions. This subject will be dealt with in a future paper because it is crucial to the future and of (the or an) VEN. [This in fact sort of places Laurence Gilbert among the traitors to the very ideas expressed by E. C. Riegel in that he felt he had to secure a copyright over another man's name, even over his ideas, a perfect target for an elitist takeover; more grist for their ceaseless dialectic manipulations of the public. Wonder who owns the software company he's been working with? What deals did he have to make in order to get his toy demo up and running? Fair questions.]
You proclaim yourself unable to harness the forces of inanimate matter, yet propose to harness the minds of men who are able to achieve the feats you cannot equal. You proclaim that you cannot survive without us, yet propose to dictate the terms of our survival. You proclaim that you need us, yet indulge the impertinence of asserting your right to rule us by FORCE-and expect that we, who are not afraid of that physical nature which fills you with terror, will cower at the sight of any lout who has talked you into voting him a chance to command us.
This statement cannot be about the poor it is intended to insult. It perfectly describes most of the elite, who cannot operate any of the businesses they have managed to acquire, so they get the John Galts of this world to do it for them. Yes these elitists are certainly collectivists as how could it have been otherwise? We now know exactly what powers have financed the political collectivists down through the centuries and we also know about their dirty little corporatist military industrial complexes too and their quartermastering and acquisitioning of arms and armies so as to get their most profitable business ventures, wars, going and keeping them going as long as possible. It is the elites who finance such things as corporate mergers and acquisitions who assert their right to rule us by FORCE and expect that we, who are not afraid of that physical nature which fills you with terror; guns in private hands, will cower at the sight of any lout who has talked you into voting him a chance to command us.
Let's be clear about a few things: the people do not vote these louts into office anywhere, they are chosen and paid for by the elites, who do not cower, so we can stop all this crap about free elections, democracy, etc. when by now the wool has pretty much fallen from the eyes everywhere.
Secondly, as is all too well known, the elites hate us and fear us as long as we are armed. The moment we surrender our rights to keep and bear arms equal to that arrayed against us by THEIR governments, then their goon squads can operate freely and do to America what was done to Russia after the Bolshevik takeover in 1917. Where were the elites then? Living high and mighty in places like London and New York, of course, certainly none were living in Moscow or St. Petersburg. Now observe how the following list applies to the elites and their hired minions more than to anyone else with remarkable clarity:
You propose to establish a social order based on the following tenets:
that you’re incompetent to run your own life, but competent to run the lives of others-
Yes indeed and into this hopper we include every single activity involved with minding or nannying other people. The professional social workers in the system are looking after people the elites fear but they do not want them to improve else these jobs would all be phased out. We likewise include here all those involved in security to the point of irrationality. What are they afraid of? They are afraid of being found out for what they are. They demand protection, and secrecy, indeed they pay a lot to get it. Wouldn't it be wonderful if one day everyone who was sworn to protect these monsters decided that they didn't deserve any more protection and just walked out and never came back? What if tens of thousands of these people involved with the protection and security of globalists just said “no” and “no more”? Would that bring the Barge crashing to a halt?
that you’re unfit to exist in freedom, but fit to become an omnipotent ruler-
If they had to exist in freedom without any money, that is they'd have to go out and try and earn it, who would want to hire them, there being no work for omnipotent but incompetent rulers anymore?
that you’re unable to earn your living by the use of your own intelligence, but able to judge politicians and to vote them into jobs of total power over arts you have never seen, over sciences you have never studied, over achievements of which you have no knowledge, over the gigantic industries where you, by your own definition of your capacity, would be unable successfully to fill the job of assistant greaser.
And we'll be glad to add to the list, the issuance of money, since under (the or an) VEN, the only way for such to gain entry would be to follow the rules against all the things they've been so good at; lying, cheating and stealing, and buckling down to doing some real work.
Now this statement fits the current environment so well as to defy belief;
This idol of your cult of zero-worship, this symbol of impotence-the congenital dependent-is your image of man and your standard of value,
Look at what we are treated to on television in some of the advanced countries and in pop culture generally? Victims! We are given these weird stereotypes of people who are poor, downtrodden, the dysfunctional families, the out and out just plain crazies, etc. who are in many cases lionized for being the way they are. The message to the average person is that of course someone bigger and brighter needs to nanny these poor souls along in life else society would just fall into unendurable chaos.
in whose likeness you strive to refashion your soul.
And even this is a little true; the extremely rich do want the average person out there in the street to think that they have more sympathy with the circumstances and attitudes of not just the poor, but of the demented who might also happen to be poor. The regular poor who are merely interested in their survival as a primary fact of life are thereby further insulted.
‘It’s only human,’ you cry in defence of any depravity, reaching the stage of self-abasement where you seek to make the concept ‘human’ mean the weakling, the fool, the rotter, the liar, the failure, the coward, the fraud,
Aren't these the types who are given the greatest space to shine on our mass media other than the relative freedom of the internet?
and to exile from the human race the hero, the thinker, the producer, the inventor, the strong, the purposeful, the pure-
Ah yes, the pure. Well, we've moved way beyond that nowadays. Who among you is left that can say they have a pure heart, a pure mind, a pure soul, a pure anything? All the rest are increasing rarities as well. But as I have said, those on top really do not want the competition. There is no reason to fear any from the former list, there is from the latter.
as if ‘to feel’ were human, but to think were not, as if to fail were human, but to succeed were not, as if corruption were human, but virtue were not-as if the premise of death were proper to man, but the premise of life were not.
All this, my friends, is in the process of a continual theft from us and most of us do not even know it.
In order to deprive us of honour, that you may then deprive us of our wealth,
Think how this has affected you out there, those who have earned several hundred thousand a year from a business now valued in perhaps tens of millions of dollars. You aren't rich, but you were and are the heroes, the thinkers, the producers, the inventors, the strong, the purposeful, the pure and without you, every country will fall into misery. But see how the elites have regarded you,
you have always regarded us as slaves who deserve no moral recognition.
To them, you are just slaves of theirs by their right or nothing at all, dispensable, since they can always find (or train) so they think, your replacement. Anyway they don't strive to make any more of what you make or produce because they are interested in promoting their scarcities so that more people will fall off the “musical chairs” economy they run with their cursed money and ... just go off somewhere and die quietly (as many actually did during the last Great Depression because they were in their hearts too “Christian” to do anything else). Their actions make it clear what they want; to drive as many off the land as possible to reduce the food supply and FORCE the world population down, especially in the developed countries, and to do it quickly enough so that no challenge is ever made against them. But what happens when people finally discover what these people have been doing and just walk away from them, stop supporting their businesses, stop using their money?
You praise any venture that claims to be non-profit, and damn the men who made the profits that make the venture possible.
Actually they staff those in non-profit organizations (their tax dodges) and take pride in participating in them as well. But no one but the slobbering old leftist dweebs in some state universities really thinks anything but that corporate profits must be maintained, else ... their retirement money would be lost. Well guess what? It might be anyway because you have believed their words and been impressed by their appearances of greatness, etc. Let's be frank about it, big impressive buildings prove nothing the moment any corporation involved with funding someone's retirement defaults on a promise to pay. Oh, this has happened and will happen. It just wont be widely broadcast on THEIR mass media and of course until their hoodwinking really reaches public exposure as a tipping point, most will continue to play in their system and lose their money, etc. right up until the end. Well, you have at least been warned ... again.
You regard as ‘in the public interest’ any project serving those who do not pay; it is not in the public interest to provide any services for those who do the paying.
We note that in all probability what Galt / Rand here mean by ‘in the public interest’ is not the same as what Bill Still makes of it. The purpose is to spend money which as we have said is buying off a social revolution in order to 1) preserve the debtor status of all governments and 2) keep the government and the people from disturbing their grand plans to STEAL all assets from everyone so as to control and reduce them so that 3) effective population control / reduction can be realized and of course 4) so they may remain on top.
‘Public benefit’ is anything given as alms; to engage in trade is to injure the public.
This is where we are now. There are many restrictions on trade, all of which have to do with preserving monopoly or the relative monopoly of franchise. If you operate as a corporation with a bank behind you and you are affiliated with some NGO activism, like the UN Agenda 21, then you get to do business. Otherwise? You are in their way.
‘Public welfare’ is the welfare of those who do not earn it; those who do, are entitled to no welfare.
We're going to re-write this one too; ‘Public welfare’ is the welfare of those who do not earn what they are given through their own efforts; those who do earn by their own efforts, are entitled to no welfare.
Those who are truly without money might still have talents they can trade with others, though perhaps remaining at or near subsistence. Large numbers of these people have already been bought off by the welfare system, otherwise they'd be doing whatever it takes to eat and to live as they do in many countries around the world. Those who work hard and have amassed wealth (that which produces a stream of income for them) do not usually get any “welfare” from the governments except when they become super-sized and then they are considered “too big to fail.” In fact the fixes were in long before these Goliaths grew to such massive sizes. People behind the scenes with “vast pools of liquidity” have agendas and they always involve the bigs being saved from the inevitable demise nature has in store for them without such support. Need I remind that we are dealing fundamentally with oversized savage babies?
‘The public,’ to you, is whoever has failed to achieve any virtue or value; whoever achieves it, whoever provides the goods you require for survival, ceases to be regarded as part of the public or as part of the human race.
For the better part of the last forty years if not longer, the term has been “the masses” not “the public.” Their producers are increasingly businesses they control by proxy, not directly. Their money gets the best of everything and they limit production making this trend a further certainty.
What blank-out permitted you to hope that you could get away with this muck of contradictions and to plan it as an ideal society, when the ‘No’ of your victims was sufficient to demolish the whole of your structure?
Oh, they get away with it all right and their money, as that magic ticket system, is the source of their weird power. If everyone simply cut up their credit cards, stopped using their money, stopped supporting ANY of their corporate businesses, and started striking out on their own, including talking to those hired by the government to do the nannying and worse and got them to quit too, if all this happened, eventually there would be one great sound of quiet as people by the millions just said no, and to borrow an apt series of phrases; turned on to new sources of information, tuned into new pathways of trade and dropped out of the elite's ridiculous, cruel and deadly system.
What permits any insolent beggar to wave his sores in the face of his betters and to plead for help in the tone of a threat?
What permits any insolent globalist to wave his money in the face of his betters (that's damn right, we are their betters!) and to plead for help in the tone of a threat as they certainly did in 2008 and have been doing ever since all over Europe, in Japan, and everywhere ? !!!! Is this not the convoluted lie that the average man has more to fear from the beggar than from the rich tyrant? It is not a new technique. If the Galt / Rand approach could only work fast enough, perhaps the elites could be saved. They had the uncritical support of the middle classes and even lower middle classes for a long time, but they turned on them and sold them out. Now what? Will they come for your homes and farms next? Sure they will. But they want your guns first and to that end shall manage the shooting up of theatres, schools, what will it be next, churches? all in hopes of getting you to accede to their demands and turn in your guns. If they have all the guns and the bullets, they will direct you where they intend for you to go ... somewhere far away from them, so that you may die quietly and not disturb their privileged existence.
You cry, as he does, that you are counting on our pity, but your secret hope is the moral code that has taught you to count on our guilt. You expect us to feel guilty of our virtues in the presence of your vices, wounds and failures-guilty of succeeding at existence, guilty of enjoying the life that you damn, yet beg us to help you to live.
It's really stupid to apply this to the poor and not to the rich. It was their hope that we would fear the poor and keep working for them ... for the promised bonus or promised retirement or what have you. But this really applies far more accurately to the other class that doesn't work, the very rich. Their secret moral code is that none but they exist, the rest of us are savages who might be used and discarded but eventually exterminated so that they can do as they please and should we decide to break with them to try and get us to feel all the guilt for it. They do expect us to feel guilty of our virtues in the presence of their vices, wounds and failures These are often of circumstances where none have ever worked all their lives; they've just lived off the money accumulated form someone else's piracy, illicit trades or usurious thievery. This next comes out like this, guilty of succeeding at existence; we are still here, guilty of enjoying the life that you damn; chiefly that of a functional family life, which posits a real threat to their attempts at preserving the same among themselves, yet beg us to help you to live, as in supplying direct or indirect help to them by working for them; taking their money. Continued in the next port.
